Chocolates are very special sweets that can not be replaced by any other sweet.Chocolates are there for any mood, any occasion or no occasion. You can eat chocolates at any time of the day. It is not only children who like to chocolates but adults are equally fond of chocolates. One more interesting fact about chocolates is it is the only sweet that is eaten world over by all classes of people with equal delight. Moreover, these sweets do not perish very soon. Based on different flavors, chocolates can be classified in different types. There large variety of chocolates to choose from. Dark chocolates, a very popular type, are semi-sweet and are comprised of cocoa liqueur, cocoa butter and sugar.Milk chocolates are most eaten type of chocolate. It is made from combining chocolate liquid, milk or cream, extra cocoa butter, sweetening and flavoring.

White chocolate though is popular and delicious, is not a real chocolate, since it does not contain chocolate liquor, but contains only cocoa butter, milk, sugar and vanilla. Bittersweet chocolate is a slightly sweetened dark chocolate.

To keep them in perfect condition for long, it is important to store them in proper temperature. They should be stored in cool, dry and dark area; the ideal storage temperature for chocolates should be between 15 to 17 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity should be less than 50%. You should store chocolates away from other foods to avoid them absorbing the aroma of different foods.A good chocolate has more of cocoa content in it. In addition, it is shiny as it indicates good amount of cocoa butter.

Eating chocolates is great for not only palate but also for health. According to recent researches, cocoa or dark chocolate offers a few health benefits to people. Cocoa is rich with flavonoids epicatechin and gallic acid, which are thought to be good for heart.It also possesses a significant antioxidant action that protects against the LDL oxidation.However, chocolate is a high-calorie food and its daily intake requires you to cut on other calorie foods. That said the stearic acid and monounsaturated fat called oleic acid found in cocoa butter do not raise the levels of LDL cholesterol.Cocoa Phenols are good for lowering the blood pressure.
