Ford Fiesta has been one of the most popular entry level sedans from Ford. It has recently introduced the Fiesta Classic, a sedan with some stunning looks in order to cater to a larger customer base while keeping its price low.
The car is an enviable combination of superior drive quality, fuel efficiency and an all new interior package. In terms of cosmetic changes there is not much difference between the existing Fiesta and the Fiesta Classic. It now gets crystal barrelled head lamps that look better than the earlier version. The air dams also look aggressive. There are three variants namely LXI, CLXI, SXI with the latter being the highest trim level available. The SXI variant gets the 14 inch tubeless alloy wheels . The turn indicators are placed in the outside rear view mirrors. In addition, all the product variants will be available with the ‘Classic’ logo and a new body colour – Colorado Red.
The interior has been restyled with Ebony and Jasper Blue coloured instrument panel, a new centre and floor console in metallic finish, with new seats and enhanced dual-tone door trims. Fully fabric seats are comfortable and elegant. There is an adjustable driver seat only for the CLXI and SXI trim. The steering wheel is now leather adorned with aluminium cuffs. A 2 DIN MP3 player with 6 speakers comes preloaded with the top end variant. Seating arrangement is pretty good. Power steering with tilt-adjust, AC with heater and power windows are standard for all the models. There is an electric boot release available on all the variants. The rear seats are foldable and this increases the space available.
The Fiesta Classic continues its original impression of being a driver's car. Its responsive steering and brilliant suspension setup makes driving pretty smooth. The engine options are similar to the old Fiesta with a 1.4 litre diesel engine and a 1.6 litre petrol engine. Top speed of the car is 161 km per litre and 169 km per litre respectively for the diesel and petrol motors. Fuel efficiency is decent with the diesel engine giving an average of 16.6 km per litre compared to an average of 13.45 km per litre of petrol engine. Overall, the car offers edgy performance and a decent fuel consumption figure as well.
Safety features are also well covered with a collapsible steering column, Passive Anti Theft System, central locking plus two airbags on the top end version.
The steering of the car is still razor sharp however due to congested roads of Indian cities there are some driving difficulties.
The Ford Fiesta Classic in India is an apt replacement for Ford Ikon. Its feature and design upgrades are eye catching and will allure buyers. On top of that Ford has kept the price pretty low for its Sedan. The existing Fiesta will continue to be sold alongside the new one. The Fiesta Classic is a wiser choice for those looking for an entry level sedan. In this affordable version, the Fiesta Classic now will appeal to a broader customer base
