HTC Thunderbolt
HTC Thunderbolt is an Android 4G phone from Verizon which is going to give iPhone 4 a tough competition. The ThunderBolt is a big and heavy phone, a bit bigger and heavier than the iPhone 4. You get a bigger screen, though the resolution is less as compared to iPhone. The Thunderbolt is covered in a black sleeve. The name of the phone is embossed on it. Both the battery and 32GB microSD card comes pre-installed. The design is typical HTC with a combination of plastic and metal. At the bottom you would find a permanent metal brushed kickstand, which turns out to be very useful. Below that you’ll find a metal strip that conceals the Thunderbolt’s loudspeaker. There is one extra microSD slot underneath the battery cover. At the top are four connection points. The sides are clean and simple with a nice button layout.
Thunderbolt is filled with number of mind blowing features like a spacious 4.3-inch WVGA display, 8 megapixel camera, and dual-LED flash. Thunderbolt has a crisper display with a greater viewing angle and a new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The ThunderBolt also sports a 1.3 MP secondary front camera and it runs Android 2.2 "Froyo." The Thunderbolt proves to be the finest 4.3-inch device HTC has ever made. As for the phone features, audio quality is great too and the battery backup is decent when you look at the size of the device and the number of apps in use. The Thunderbolt is running HTC Sense. It supports HTC’s unusual "Fast Boot" option. The UI is nice with convention soft keyboard ,vibrant menus, and lots of home screen elements. Along with all the Google Android apps you also get a few more apps including Adobe Reader, Bitbop, Blockbuster, City ID, FM radio tuner and Quickoffice.
HTC has a track record of delivering fantastic picture and video quality - and the 8 megapixel shooter is no exception. The touch-to-focus is great to work with. The 720p video is great for home videos. It is complemented with amazing sound quality. There are a few things which are missing here too. The most notable are Skype and Netflix streaming. The HDMI-out is missing surprisingly. Overall, the phone feels quite fast. If you consider the processor speed and the user experience, the phone feels smooth and fast out of the box. HTC’s managed to bring forward a handset which has everything to be on the same platform with iPhone4. The Thunderbolt is definitely one of the best Android devices from HTC so far.
