 Dell- Hitting the right notes

It's a fact that no one is a born perfectionist, with right amount of efforts and will power, gradually we learn things. So was the case with Dell; with the launch of Adamo XPS (thinnest laptop in the world), which forgot that to get the right rhythm we need to hit the right note at right time. Therefore, to hit it right, Dell launched its XPS 14z, a thin, gorgeous, full-featured notebook that strike a chord of old Adamo. And as we have been using our Smartphones for years, this is also meant to be a rock-star notebook for rock-star professionals.

The Dell XPS 14z is equipped with solid components, even at its lowest configuration, like an Intel Core i5-2430M CPU, a 500GB hard drive, Intel's on-processor integrated graphics, and 4GB of RAM. Dell offers three more configurations, out of which, one has a Core i7-2640M processor, a 256GB solid-state drive, 8GB of RAM, and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce 520M graphics processor with 1GB of video memory. The mid-level models use one of these two processors, 750GB hard drives, and the same Nvida graphics card as in the high-end model. The display offers fairly accurate color rendition when showing photographs or video except for the one minor disappointment with the resolution. The Video playback quality is strong, with fairly light motion coating. Although it offers a lot of the identical specs as the horses of the similar race like Core i5 and i7 processor options, discrete graphics, USB 3.0 and an optional solid-state drive, but manages to stand out in certain ways. One, it sports an LG Shuriken display, which cram a 14-inch screen into a framework normally reserved for 13-inch systems. Another differentiating factor is a weight of 4.36 pounds, which indeed makes it lighter than a lot of the other laptops. Dell XPS14 with a continuous surfing over Wi-Fi, its eight-cell Prismatic battery lasts for a decent endurance 5 hours and 23 minutes. Dell makes it somewhat difficult to reach in cramped quarters by opting to place the majority of the XPS 14z's ports at the rear of the notebook. Rear-based ports include a USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, HDMI, a Mini DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet and the power port along. A DVD burner is located on the right side of the laptop, while a headphone jack, microphone jack, and a 7-in-1 card reader sit on the right.

Therefore, a laptop with decent performance is always expected to offer more connectivity than the XPS 14z does with just two USB which is a major let down. Even when compared with the new generation of Ultrabooks and with the rough footprint of a 13-inch laptop, this still feels thick and heavy.
