Winning is such a game which intends to evaluate the competitors’ performance and with the increase in competition it compel others to get involved as well. With the ever-growing popularity of tablets, laptops and Smartphones more and more manufacturers are attempting to combine the best features. Not to be left out in the cold, dark, dank world, Asus came out as a dark horse and announced Asus N55SF. Although the Asus N55SF may not be the speediest desktop replacement laptop, it’s still pretty fast. Its audio system is a standout feature which indeed delivers considerably better-than-average sound and video with the 15.6-inch widescreen making it absolutely stunning. The N55SF also comes with good gaming frame rates as it is installed with two graphics chips, Intel’s integrated graphics and the Nvidia GeForce GT 555M, of which latter is the most powerful.
The N55SF comes with a plate full of cutting-edge features equipped with a Blu-ray drive, which splendidly complements the 1080p screen. It comes with four USB ports (two of which are USB 2.0, and two of which are USB 3.0), Ethernet, VGA, and a media card reader. Apart from this, the 750GB, 5,400rpm hard drive is larger in terms of capacity. Performance wise Asus N55SF premium features are accompanied by premium parts. Its 2GHz Intel Core i7-2630QM processor has a total of four physical cores in a quad-core configuration, making it furiously fast, combined with 8GB of DDR3 memory. The webcam is high-definition, and connectivity includes 802.11b/g/n wireless, gigabit ethernet, and Bluetooth 3.0. It offers an extremely sharp image, and is a lot brighter than average; you’ll probably find yourself turning the brightness down several notches under most circumstances. The screen also provides an exceptionally wide viewing angle. The concept of integrating all the buttons and switches into the keyboard works quite well as we’ll find a full numeric keypad as well as a handy column of multimedia keys at the far left of the unit that allow us to start and stop playback, as well as mute the sound and raise/lower the volume. The power, Wi-Fi, and other switches also reside along the top row of keys. With a weight of 6.2 pounds, the N55SF is not a laptop we’ll necessarily want to carry around a lot and its battery lasts for nearly 3 hours, 52 minutes.
Asus N55SF let us down when it comes to its built-in subwoofer, which can usually be found at the bottom of the laptop. Instead, Asus provides us with an external subwoofer, which connects via a proprietary port found on the right side of the laptop. The bass gets better when it’s connected, but it’s an external attachment. To sum up it won’t be wrong to say that the Asus N55SF will appeal to anyone who wants great performance as well as a 1080p/Blu-ray movie viewer, a stereo system, and a competent gaming machine in a single package for a price which suits us best.
